Lewis Lipsitz, MD, Named to Board of Directors of the Gerontological Society of America

The Gerontological Society of America has named Lewis Lipsitz, MD, to its board of directors. The Gerontological Society of America is the oldest and largest interdisciplinary organization devoted to research, education, and practice in the field of aging. Its principal mission — and that of our over 6,000 members — is to promote the study of aging and disseminate information to scientists, decision makers, and the general public.

Founded in 1945, the Gerontological Society of America is the driving force behind advancing innovation in aging — both domestically and internationally. Members come from more than 50 countries. 

Dr. Lipsitz is director of the Hinda and Arthur Marcus Institute for Aging Research and chief academic officer at Hebrew SeniorLife, professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, and the former chief of the Division of Gerontology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Since 2021, Dr. Lipsitz has served as the editor-in-chief of The Journal of Gerontology, Series A: Biological Sciences and Medical Sciences. His research focuses on age-related alterations in blood pressure and cerebral blood flow regulation and their relationship to falls, syncope, and cognitive dysfunction.
