Victoria Poole, Ph.D

Assistant Scientist I, Hinda and Arthur Marcus Institute for Aging Research
Instructor in Medicine, Harvard Medical School, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center

Dr. Victoria Poole is an expert in the neuroimaging of aging and neurotrauma at the Hinda and Arthur Marcus Institute for Aging Research at Hebrew SeniorLife and Boston VA Healthcare System. Dr. Poole has seven years of experience in conducting MRI experiments and has developed a technical expertise in the use of proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H MRS), functional MRI (fMRI), and more recently diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) for neural health prediction across the lifespan. Dr. Poole serves as a neuroimaging specialist for the MOBILIZE Boston Study (MBS), for which she is responsible for MRI data collection, management, fMRI processing, and analyses. Her work investigates how neural activation (during a working memory task), functional neural connectivity (while at rest), and neural structure relate to abnormalities in cerebral blood flow, cognition, and gait, which have all been shown to be associated with frailty and falls within the elderly population.
