Andrea Loizeau is a postdoctoral research fellow supported by the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences. She is a researcher and psychologist working in the field of geriatrics with a focus on palliative care and advanced dementia.
Dr. Loizeau earned her MS and PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Zurich in Switzerland. Her PhD project, the DEMFACT study, consisted of the development and evaluation of Fact Box decision support tools on antibiotics for pneumonia and artificial hydration in advanced dementia. She gained both clinical and research experience through various stays abroad, including England (University College London) and Germany (Free University of Berlin, Charité Hospital in Berlin).
In the last year of her PhD, Dr. Loizeau joined the Palliative Care team at the Hinda and Arthur Marcus Institute for Aging Research, where she is now staying on for her postdoctoral work on medical decision-making in advanced dementia.
