Claims-based frailty index (PI: Kim): We have developed a claims-based frailty index to estimate frailty from administrative claims data, such as Medicare claims data. This algorithm is useful for population screening and database research, where a large-scale clinical frailty assessment is not feasible. Selected ongoing projects include:
Crosswalk between the claims-based frailty index and clinical frailty measures
Change in the claims-based frailty index and outcomes
Sensor-based contact-less frailty assessment (co-PI: Kim): This collaborative pilot project with University of Massachusetts (Dr. Paluch) and butlr aims to apply artificial intelligence to identify frailty from wall-mounted heat sensors in the free-living environment.
